Flooring is integral to the design as visually it is such a large part of any project and very much sets the tone. It also reflects the personality of the client’s business.
We recently completed a project for the Salamanca Group in which we had 1,000 sq m to work with. We specified a huge range of flooring and finishes, all of which really defined the various areas of the office and set the tone.
Salamanca’s signature motif of a squared hexagon was repeated through many aspects of the design. It can be found from the floors to the reception desk to the meeting room tables as a visual language linking the spaces. Travertine was selected for the reception, detailed with copper inlays. We have also used in this project inset deep-pile rugs and large-format ceramic tiles. Timber floor borders and poly- floor vinyl were selected for the workspace, rejecting the familiar carpet in place of a more contemporary finish. For all the remaining floors and all the meeting rooms we used a bespoke broadloom carpet.
